Outback - Fairview Family

Everyone knows that kids will be kids, & you either go with them, or try to force them to do something else.  In my experience, the latter generally does not end well, so is best avoided.  On the other hand, sometimes, it's just not their day.  They feel out of sorts, tired, cranky etc.  Basically exactly how we bigger kids do when we've overrun the engine.

A couple of weeks ago, after the birth of their new daughter Maggie, I was contacted to go & update this families portraits.  The drive out to their station is about an hour out of town from where I am, & so it's a bit hard to just call it off when someone's not feeling up to it, after the fact.  Little did we know how much of a 'off day' it was going to be for big brother Jock!

With their permission, I'm still posting these images, because even though it did not quite go as planned, I'd like to show you that all is not lost, & as a matter of fact, these are some of my new favourite portraits.  They're not fake at all.  This is about as real as it gets, & i'm so happy that Amanda & Gus were able to see how beautiful they turned out.  As a matter of fact, I bet you can't even tell that the kids were having a bad day at all!  It all goes to patience, a bit of extra entertaining & timing.

No matter how well you plan a family portrait session folks, stuff happens, & you either wing it, or go home!

Enjoy xxx Kristina
